The Mt. Angel Community Foundation annually awards six (6) scholarships to Mt. Angel’s graduating JFK High School seniors. Each Foundation scholarship awards $1,500 per year, renewable for up to four years of study. All types of universities, colleges, trade, technical or vocational schools are acceptable, a feature that makes these community-based funds unique among other scholarships.

NEW for FALL 2019: MACF is excited to announce The Michael B. Ilg Character Scholarship, a new addition to our Foundation scholarships for 2019. The Michael B. Ilg Character Scholarship is worth $1,500 per year, and may be renewed for up to four years of study. This scholarship is available to students with at least a 2.50 GPA who have been enrolled at JFK High School for at least 3 years. This scholarship seeks students with good character and a strong work ethic, and it offers special consideration to the student who has overcome personal challenges (family, social or other) in life. Just like our other scholarships, the funds can be used at any college, university, trade, technical or vocational school. Download the 2019 scholarship application (PDF) for full details.

MACF scholarships can open doors for students often overlooked by traditional sources of funding. These funds are not just for college-bound students; these scholarships are also available to JFK seniors who are seeking career-based training in skilled trades. This feature reflects the heritage of the Mt. Angel community, where many people work in the agricultural, mechanical, manufacturing, construction, or healthcare fields.

These scholarships are the flagship project of the Mt. Angel Community Foundation, the project around which our organization was founded in 1995. These funds were created by local families and businesses that wanted to invest in Mt. Angel’s future, by helping Mt. Angel’s next generations succeed. The Foundation began awarding scholarships in 1997.  Other donors who share this commitment have added to the funds over the years, and our capacity to help JFK graduates achieve their educational goals has grown steadily.
